This is your chance to see Vintage Cars from before 1924 parade along the Catalonia coast from Barcelona to Sitges. The winner of the race depends not only on the time taken, but also the vintage attire the drivers wear. After the race they will lay to rest in the Port Aiguadolc in Sitges where you can see them in their glory.

Semana Santa April 2nd - 5th

This is the equivalent of Easter in England, but with a Spanish twist! All the bars and clubs stay open extra so is a perfect time to party. Another extraordinary tradition is the sale ´Monos', similar to chocolate eggs. They come in all varieties and sizes and are more of a cake than an egg!

Sant Jordi April 23rd

La Diada de Sant Jordi is celebrated throughout Catalonia as well as in Sitges. It is a traditional festival here and includes the exchange of gifts between loved ones. It is traditional for the women to be given roses and the men books. The paseo in Sitges will the full of book and flower stalls for everyone to enjoy. There are also many more activities in Barcelona, including stalls on the Rambla and traditional Sardana dancing in Plaza Sant Jaume.

Corpus Cristi June 6th

Corpus Christi is a Catholic celebration honoured in many Spanish towns, and Sitges is no exception. Every year there are religious processions through the streets combined with religious ceremonies in all of the beautiful churches. One of the main attractions to this festival is the flowers. The flowers are strewn throughout the streets and act as a stunning blanket.

San Joan June 23rd

San Joan is a pagan festival celebrated on the 23rd June, the shortest night of the year, the Summer Solstice. It means triumph of light over dark, and the ritual has continued over time. Now, the celebration consists of fireworks on the beach and in the town, many parties and bonfires. It is a great night out, full of Spanish culture and parties!

Tango Dancers July 12th - 18th

This is the International Tango Festival where dancers from around the globe come to show Sitges what they can do. There are teachers on hand to teach you the tango, from beginners to pros. There are also spectacular shows to be seen. This is one dancing festival to see!

Sitges Gay Pride July 9th - 13th

|
It is the first time this event has been held in Sitges and it´s guaranteed to be full of mayhem and mischief. There is a packed schedule for all to enjoy. The Main Parade is held on Saturday 9th July and will surely be exciting and fun. It starts at 6pm and continues until late in the night. The other main events include Mr Gay Pride and Miss Drag Queen Sitges, and other events include Girls Night Out, Beach Fashion Show and the Party on the Promenade which takes place every evening from 5.30pm. With music, sporting events and 25 bars included in the line-up, this is an event not to be missed!

This is the second year of the midnight concerts in Sitges and it is definitely one to see. Under the midnight skies and the stars, orchestras and more will be playing though the night in some of the most spectacular settings. Can you find anything more romantic?

Festa Mayor August 21st - 27th
|
|
This is the celebration of the patron saint, Sant Bartolomeu. The 23rd August is the most important day as it includes all the main events. The most anticipated event is the firework display in the evening at 11pm. The beaches are full of people and boats from all around moor up for the evening to see the spectacular show. The show lasts for nearly 30 minutes and is one of the most intense displays you have seen. The Castellers also play a large part in the celebration– these are human towers and can reach up to 6-people tall! A child is always found at the top of the tower, which can stand for seconds or minutes.

Sitges Wine Festival September 17th -19th

This is the 48th grape harvest festival. Every year it is dedicated to a different region in the Penedes area and members of the Torres family are also present along with other important personalities. The festival is celebrated in the middle of the grape harvest season for the Penedes region. Events include grape treading, dancing, gourmet food tasting and of course, wine tasting!

Santa Tecla September 23rd

|
Santa Tecla is the patron saint of Sitges. It is a smaller version of the Festa Major, but still with stunning fireworks. Again the Castellers, human towers, will be performing. This Sant is celebrated throughout Tarragona but most people watch the finale in Sitges, so be prepared for crowded, bustling streets.

Gourmet Food Festival September 30th
|
|
This spectacular festival celebrates the end of the grape harvest and boasts some of the best food and wine from the region. There are more than 20 restaurants, 4 bakeries, 19 wineries involved in this event, as well as cava cellars and more! The tickets cost 35euros and that entitles you to try all of the local speciality dishes in the participating restaurants and, of course, the wine!

Sitges Film Festival October 7th - 17th

The Sitges Film Festival was first launched in 1968 and it is now the leading festival for Fantasy and Horror Movies. There are 10 days full of old and new films, as well as the directors, actors and producers, even including Quentin Tarantino, Anthony Hopkins and Cameron Diaz. The films are shown in all the cinemas in Sitges, including the vast Melia Auditorium. This year's theme is Alien, as it's the 30th anniversary of Ridley Scott’s masterpiece. Films are shown throughout the day and prices vary for each film.
